A thriving twice-weekly market in the heart of Bristol’s Temple Quarter. Located next to Temple Meads station and surrounded by a mixed community of offices and residential flats, it is a central part of life for the workers and residents of the area.

Our food

With Bristol's rich and diverse street food culture, the range of food to be found spans international flavours and classic British favourites.

We’re dedicated to ensuring that every market offers a tantalising choice of different styles and caters for all diets – authentic Thai, Cantonese, Greek, Spanish and Malaysian, as well as food inspired by international travels, including Middle Eastern, Vietnamese, Texan, Korean – the list goes on!

Many stalls have been coming for years and have an established following, but we're always keeping an eye out for exciting newcomers from this constantly evolving community.

Why not help reduce waste by supporting the bring your own lunchbox campaign, supported by Redcliffe & Temple BID.

Our traders

We also have many guest traders who make occasional appearances. These feature on our social media when they're with us.

Located on The Square at the heart of the Temple Quay district, the market is just two minutes walk from Temple Meads station and a stone's throw from the eastern end of the harbour. The waterside amphitheatre provides a large seating area to sit and enjoy lunch, and is also right by the ferry stop, for journeys to and from the city centre.

If in doubt, follow your nose…!

History of Temple Quay Market

One of the city's original street food markets, Temple Quay Market was established in 2012 in response to a desire from the business community to bring life to the area.  Popular from the outset, the market has built a reputation as one of the city's favourite places to enjoy an inspiring alfresco lunch with colleagues, friends and family.

Initially a monthly market, it started out with a mixed offering with a range of lunches and food produce, but as the street food movement gathered pace in the city, this increasingly became the focus, and it soon became a weekly event. In 2022, it became a twice weekly market, taking place every Tuesday and Thursday. As the Temple Quay district continues to develop, the market has a bright future as a core aspect of the life and soul of the area.

ABOUT OUR TEAM

Temple Quay Market is hosted by Square Route Events

Square Route Events was set up by David Pyne in 2012. David spent 10 years with Bristol City Council’s Festivals and Events Team from 2001 to 2011 as Marketing and Sponsorship Manager. The team delivered major events such as Bristol Harbour Festival, Bristol Half Marathon and Bristol’s Biggest Bike Ride. He has experience of event production, managing corporate sponsorship and coordinating extensive marketing campaigns. Since 2011, he has worked on a variety of events and marketing roles, including at the Tobacco Factory, Bristol Food Connections and Eat Drink Bristol Fashion.

Géraldine Wise joined Square Route Events in 2020. A self-confessed market addict and food lover, she managed the Tobacco Factory Sunday Market for several years and brings a strong track record of supporting local makers. A passionate advocate for small and independent businesses, she believes markets are a brilliant way to bring communities together. Alongside her passion for markets and her French flair, she offers social media expertise and over 20 years' experience in event management, including work with WOMAD and a range of music and arts projects.

In a separate venture, David and Geraldine set up Windmill Hill Market, building on Geraldine’s community of designer makers. Between them, they have a wealth of experience and extensive contacts in the Bristol markets and events sector.
